G. Toufexis –
This is a beautiful little travel guitar. Comes with excellent electronics and a great gig bag. However, there is no mention on this website that the guitar is made in China, not Canada. After we received the guitar, we reached out to customer service to ask why the guitar was not manufactured in Canada (as expected from Godin). We received a quick response and were told that “A&L Natural and Light Burst series models were manufactured in China during the pandemic. At the time, our factories were closed most of the time and we simply ran out of inventory.” This was a satisfactory and very reasonable explanation, but we would have appreciated knowing this before purchase.

A friend had an A&L Roadhouse that she let me play on several occasions at live performances when I had neglected to bring one of my own guitars. I loved it! I was going to order one identical to hers when I saw The Roadhouse Natural EQ. At the summer sale price, I decided to buy it. The best decision I could have made. It’s pleasant to play acoustically, with good tone and great feel. Through a P.A. it’s amazing. I played it tonight and several guitarists asked “How do you get such a big sound out of such a small guitar?” I smiled and told them “It’s acoustic/electric. You don’t need a dreadnought to get great sound!”

The guitar I received had great features for the price, however both the fretboard and saddle were very dry. I cleaned and oiled the fretboard with Dunlop accessories which gave the fretboard a better appearance. The saddle was another matter. Some of the bridge pins were jammed in so tight, they could not be removed with my standard pin puller. After a restring, the pins popped out due to the shrinkage from dryness of the saddle. The guitar had been inspected before shipping and the initial action/setup was excellent, however it seems these guitars were warehoused for an extended period without much humidity control, given they were produced in China during the pandemic which ended over 3 years ago. I am hopeful that the top will not split while I slowly increase the humidity levels.
