Absolutely an incredible guitar. Love the look and the sound both acoustically and plugged in.

I have a Muti-Tac and it is an outstanding guitar I was hoping the 5th Avenue Jumbo P-Rail Harvest Gold would be the same. Over all the fit and finish of the instrument is very good and the Seymour Duncan pickup produces excellent tone. Yet there is something with off action. Out of the box it had bad fret buzz. I dialed in the setup as best I could which reduced the buzz somewhat yet without eliminating it completely. As a note, the adjusting the truss rod does practically nothing?!?! Adjusting the bridge I had get 2mm clearance at the 12th fret before the fret buzz would disappear. It feels excessive. I bought this guitar on-line based on my previous experience with the Multi-Tac. I really wish I had played the 5th Avenue before purchasing it as I now have regrets.

Thank you for your feedback and for choosing another Godin guitar. We truly appreciate your trust in our instruments and are sorry to hear that your experience with the 5th Avenue Jumbo P-Rail has not met your expectations so far.
It’s important to note that wood is an organic material, and as such, it can react to changes in temperature and humidity, especially during shipping and seasonal transitions. This can sometimes affect the action and fret buzz on a new instrument. While we strive to set up every guitar optimally before it leaves our workshop, some adjustments may be necessary upon arrival to suit personal preferences and playing styles.
From what you describe, it sounds like your guitar may need a more precise setup. If the truss rod adjustments are not having the expected effect, it may be beneficial to check for any fret inconsistencies or neck relief issues. We recommend taking it to a qualified technician or luthier who can properly assess and adjust the instrument to ensure optimal playability.
Please let us know if you need guidance on setup recommendations or if you require further assistance. We want to make sure you get the best experience possible with your new guitar.
Best regards,

I bought this guitar used. I bought this based on faith and YouTube videos since you don’t see these in stores very often. I play Telecasters for rock primarily but wanted a jazz tone. I was not disappointed at all. There is plenty of low end so you have to dial or EQ that out. But when you do, the sound is wonderful. I do not know of another guitar that could give me woody, velvety sound. I love the P90 and HB sounds the best. This guitar is so easy to play withe the beveled neck and flat radius. Bends and vibrato are so easy. Another unexpected plus was that I found that this is not just a jazz guitar. I use if for rock and Americana all the time.

One major design flaw – This guitar has a laminated top – and it’s very thin. So, you cannot put heavy strings on it. I tried to put 13’s on it – and it buzzed. I found out – the heavy strings at full tension pushed down in the top wood too much. At normal, standard tuning, the bridge pushes down and bends the top wood. Making it impossible to use heavier strings. I’m not even sure it can handle 12’s, due to this problem. You’ll notice Godin ships this guitar with 11’s – which is very light for a jazz Hollowbody. They should probably put a warning on its description – because I think you can crack the top wood this way. It’s too bad – because the guitar sounds great acoustically – and the volume/projection would be even better with heavy strings. But (to the best of my knowledge) it cannot be done! Too bad, too, because otherwise it’s a great guitar for the money.
David Carson (Blind Doc Arson) –
Very fine jazzbox. Aesthetically, it’s just such a beautiful guitar.
Sonically, it’s also very pleasing.
Stylistically, I am not a jazz player. I play more in the style of Chet/Merle/Leo/Fahey. This guitar does a great just of articulating individual notes and intervals, Evan at faster speeds. No muddy tones here. My sausage fingers also appreciate the wider fretboard.

Hi,
Thank you for your detailed feedback.
We’d like to clarify that this guitar model is fully capable of handling a .013 string gauge, provided it is properly set up for that tension.
When switching from .011s to .013s, it’s crucial to have the instrument undergo a complete setup, including Truss rod adjustment (heavier strings increase neck tension), Bridge height adjustment, Nut slot inspection (wider strings may bind in narrow slots), Action and intonation setup.
If the guitar isn’t adjusted for the higher tension, symptoms like buzzing or top deflection may occur, but these are not design flaws, they’re indications that a proper setup is required after increasing string gauge.
We ship this model with .011s as a balanced choice between playability and tone, not due to any structural limitations.
We’d recommend having the guitar checked by a qualified technician or luthier to ensure everything is set up correctly for .013s. Feel free to reach out with your serial number if you’d like us to confirm any specifications or provide further support.
Best regards,
The Godin Guitars Team
