The Godin 5th Avenue Thin Line represents a clever synthesis between our two renowned series: the Montreal series and the 5th Ave series. Its medium-sized fully hollow body provides a unique sonic character. This feature offers exceptional expressiveness while providing complete control over the sustain of each note. Its strength becomes evident when paired with a low to moderate gain tube amplifier. In this setup, the guitar reveals a harmonious character, where tones blend subtly to create a warm and balanced sound. The instrument responds sensitively to playing nuances, allowing the musician to explore a rich and diverse sonic palette. Another remarkable aspect of this guitar is its propensity to produce a controlled and pleasant feedback. When pushed to higher volumes, it reacts with mastery, adding an extra dimension to the musician’s creativity. Also, this guitar offers remarkable versatility, allowing musicians to delve into various musical styles. Whether you seek the expressive power of blues, the energy of rock, or the sophistication of jazz, this guitar meets expectations with its classic and warm P90 pickups or its well-defined character Gold Foils with excellent high-end response. In summary, this hybrid guitar embodies the harmonious marriage between the legacy of the Montreal series and that of the 5th Ave series, offering musicians a captivating sound experience in terms of playability and sonic diversity. And, of course, this guitar is 100% crafted in our Canadian workshops!

Incredibly light, visually stunning, and tonally decadent. Cannot say enough about how eye catching this guitar is when you are in the room with it–feels good to hold too. The body is super light so the majority of the guitar’s weight is in the neck (which is a plus in the same way that weighted piano keys are a plus by making a piano more satisfying to play). Due to the larger body size the neck dive is not terrible but it is there. I installed a strap button above the pickup selector an inch and half or so from the neck and there is 0 neck dive (just fyi).
The electronics on this guitar give you much needed tonal range and are very responsive. Both pots at 10 and the shrillness is almost unbearable (depending on the amp of course–I used both a Vox and ’65 Princeton). Roll off the volume just a tiny bit and the unpleasant highs fall away pretty much instantly. Keep the volume on 10 and roll back the tone pot to taste and you’ve got pickups that are punchy and saturate in a unique and creamy way. Rolling back the volume from here once again produces all sorts of tonal possibilities from clean and twangy to warm and dark. The pickups are exceptionally responsive but behave in a way that almost feels counterintuitive at times. Not necessarily a bad thing–just something I noticed. Play softly and you will get a wonderful full tone with rounded lows and sparkling highs which sounds great clean and overdriven. Increase your pick attack and the lows ‘compress’ losing their fullness and instead give way to more cutting mids and distorting high harmonics which sounds absolutely heavenly.
I would not say this guitar excels at any one style–rather it can do a lot of styles and do them in its own way, with its own character. And the character of this guitar is what makes it so special. The combination of Godin’s expert build and Lollar’s Gold Foils have resulted in a guitar that is sure to be a beloved secret weapon to the knowing few.

So easy on the eye and kind to the hand… this instrument is one of finest and most versatile I have had the pleasure to play.

A great archtop. Typical Godin highest quality workmanship. Of my other four archtops, this one is fast becoming my favorite. So much value at a very reasonable price.
